Job Description Department: Nursing Title: Plaster Room Technician
Reports to:
OPD Head Nurse and
Area Supervisor.
Accountable to:
OPD Head Nurse and
Area Supervisor, House Supervisor, ADON and DON.
Job Summary:
Is responsible
about Performing basic nursing care; assist in plaster cast for the patient according to hospital policies and procedures;
ensure preparation of consulting room, act as a runner/patient transporter to
other departments within the hospital, Interact and communicate
effectively with all staff, and physicians.
Responsibilities and duties:

Prepare the consulting rooms for all the clinics.
·
Check patient’s vital signs and prepare patients for
examination.
·
Ensure that secretary obtain patient's chart at the
same time obtain payment or guarantee letter from insurance companies.
·
Make sure the patients’ files are collected on time
from Medical Record office (if any) in most cases; patients who visit the OPD
for the first time require opening new file.
·
Assist doctors and stay with patients until the
doctor completes the consultation.
·
Prepare and set up plaster saw to be ready for use
at any time (including setting of up the accessories for each equipment).
·
Prepare and use PPE (personal protective equipments)
such as Apron, mask, latex gloves and goggles.
·
Remove plaster cast and / or stitches as ordered by
the doctor.
·
Assist the doctor to apply plaster cast for the patient.
·
Perform the cleaning and decontamination process for
all equipment after each use.
·
Ensure all medical supplies used have been charged
to patients.
·
Assist patients who need assistance with wheel chair
and porters etc.
·
Hand over patients with completed report to the
receptionist.
· Ensure proper
documentation of patient’s visit to the clinic.
Management Responsibilities:
·
Has the authority to discipline staff for certain
misdemeanors according to hospital policy in the absence of the Head Nurse?
· Is directly
responsible for the supervision of the staff nurses, nurse aides on a daily
basis in the absence of the Head Nurse.

receiving instructions.

Competencies:
Education:
· Diploma Nurse /
Technical Institute of Nursing.
Experience:
·
2-3 years’ experience as a plaster technician.
·
Previous Primary Health Care experience an advantage
