Job Description Department: Nursing Title: Health Care Assistant Endoscopy
Reports To:
Nursing House Supervisor, Endoscopy Head Nurse and Assistant Head Nurse in the absence of
Head Nurse.
Accountability:
Accountable to Nursing House Supervisor, EndoscopyHead nurse.
Job summary:
Is responsible about Performing basic nursing
care; assist in pre and post endoscopic procedure, and assist nursing staff and
physicians with routine and complex procedures (ERCPs, GI bleeds, esophageal
and pyloric dilatations, etc.) according to hospital policies and procedures;
act as a runner/patient transporter to other departments within the hospital, Interact
and communicate effectively with all staff, and physicians.
Responsibilities and duties :

Charge Nurse is responsible for assignments of the
Health Care Assistants.
·
Assists with patient admissions:
ü Stretcher / bed
transfer
ü Removal of clothes
ü Assist with patient
gown
ü Weighs patient
· Take and record:
ü Oral Temperature
ü Respirations
ü Radial pulse rate
ü Nursing Assessment
ü Patient Teaching
· Insert cannula for
outpatients.
· Escort patients to
clinics, cashier, pharmacy etc.
· Demonstrates knowledge
of parameters to report to endoscopy Head Nurse / Charge Nurse
· Cleans equipment, infusion
pumps and monitors.
· Exhibits cultural
sensitivity to patients and family.
· Ensures clean, dirty
utility and store rooms are tidy.
· Ensures that Consultation
rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for the day.
Competencies:
Educational Requirements:
·
High School Diploma.
·
Basic Nursing Training is preferred.
·
Able to read, write and speak Arabic well.
·
Able to understand and speak Basic English.
Experiences:
·
1-2 yrs experience in the hospital is preferred.
Training:
· In house by education department.
· Attend fire fighting and infection control sessions as
scheduled by respective department.
Knowledge Skill Set:
· Ability to maintain emotional stability to cope with
human suffering, emergencies and other on the job stresses.
·
Good communicator and pleasing disposition.
