Job Description Department: Nursing Title: Emergency Medical Technician
Reports to:
ER Head Nurse / ER Manager.

ER Head Nurse, House Supervisor, ACNO and CNO
Job Summary:
Emergency Medical Technician is a person who responds
to emergency calls and provides efficient and immediate care and first-aid treatment, and transports critically
ill, sick or injured persons to
(…..).
Responsibilities and duties:
· Insert cannula, administer prescribed rescue medication, and administer oxygen as directed by physician.
· Upon arrival at the scene, conduct a quick assessment to determine the safest mode of transportation based on the nature of the illness.
· Open and keep airway clear, assist physician with intubation, ventilation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. If needed, perform the cast aspiration procedure.
· Assist the doctor with urgent medical care, e.g. B. stopping bleeding, dressig wounds and immobilizing aching, deformed limbs.
· Insert cannula, administer prescribed rescue medication, and administer oxygen as directed by physician.
· Assist in lifting and carrying the patient out of the ambulance
to the receiving facility.
· Constantly assess the patient during the transfer to the hospital
providing additional care as indicated or directed by the doctor.

Meet patients at the ER entrance with a stretcher and guide them
to the triage or treatment are according to priority.
· Collects patients from the ambulance station/floor for transfer to other facilities or home in a wheelchair or gurney, if the patient's condition permits.
· After each call, restocks and replaces used linens, blankets supplies,
clean all equipment following appropriate disinfection procedures according to the
infection control policy. Send any defective equipment for prompt servicing to ensure
that all equipment are in good working condition at all the time.

Ensures ambulance is cleaned, washed and stocked according to ambulance checklist.
· Determines that the vehicle is in proper
mechanical condition at all times.
Interpersonal skills / communication:
· Use an appropriate chain of command in all matters of nursing.
· Communicate to ambulance supervisor, ER Head Nurse
/ ER Manager all matters related to ambulance call out and transfers.
· A role model for good interpersonal relationships
with other department.
· Foster effective working relationships between
nursing and medical teams and other ambulance users.
· Good communication skills are necessary.
Competencies:
Education:
· Nursing Diploma or Paramedic Training.
Experience:
·
High School Diploma or at least 2 years’ experience
as a Paramedic.
· BLS certified.
Training:
· Applied pharmacology training an advantage
Dress Code:
· Formal uniform acceptable according to (....) policy.
