Job Description      Department: Nursing        Title: OR Technician

Reports to:

OR Supervisor

Accountable to:

OR Supervisor, ACNO, CNO

Responsibilities and duties:

   ·       Perform general operation checks for medical equipment inside his assigned area such as diathermy, OR table and suction apparatus

   ·       Assist patients transfer from Recovery to OR and vice-versa

   ·       Position patient on the OR table according to the procedure

   ·       Organize positioning of lights according to each procedure

   ·       Assist surgeon with procedures as required

   ·       Place diathermy on patients and ensure that it is functioning throughout the operation

   ·       Perform the cleaning and decontamination process of OR table, suction apparatus and diathermy making it ready for the next use ensuring that it is in good working condition

   ·       Records and reports suction or diathermy equipment which are sent for repair (with the approval of the OR Manager in keeping with (......)’s policies and procedures)

Interpersonal skills / communication:

   ·       Use the proper chain of command on all nursing related matters

   ·       Communicate to OR Manager all matters related to the daily running of the operation

   ·       A role model for good interpersonal relationships with other department

   ·        Promote eff3ective working relationships between nursing and medical team and other OR users

Competencies:

 Education:

   ·       Minimum high school degree (technical diploma is preferred)

Experience:

   ·       Minimum two years of hospital working environment

Training:

   ·       Moderate spoken English

   ·       Ability to show good practice of handling equipment and working tools

Skills:

Good communication skills are necessary
