Position Summary:
· The Nursing Education Program Coordinator or Manager is basically responsible for the successful execution of educational programs at (HOSPITAL NAME). The education manager oversees and ensures the provision of education and training as appropriate for the nurses at the hospital. The successful education manager will work in conjunction with the education teams, administration teams and other coordinators or managers to get this done. The role includes providing the scoping of resources and managing the delivery of education programs.
Responsibilities and duties:

Responsible for strategic planning for all continuous
nursing education programs.
· Prepares and revise the hospital policies and
procedures in collaboration with educational team, CNO and Quality Manager and
incorporate them in training programs.
· Continuous revision of the competency
checklists of the nursing procedures in accordance with the best practice and
evidence based nursing.
· Responsible to provide part of the nursing
orientation program lectures, participate in the induction and re-orientation
program.
· Participate in revision and updates of the
job description of all categories of nurses at (HOSPITAL NAME).
· Manages day-to-day operational aspects of
nursing education and team assignments.

Formulates the training curriculum within the
approved scope of practice.
·
Develops instructional methods suitable for
training plans.
· Ensure proper assessment of competencies of
all categories of staff within the nursing department.
·
Take part in performance appraisal for all
nursing education department team.
·
Do staff counseling as deemed necessary and
document event.
·
Follow up on clinical performance in units
and floors.
·
Act as clinical facilitator in training HCA’s
and develop their curriculum.
· Acts as custodian for the Hospital Library.
Leadership:
·
Give professional support to the nursing
staff.
· Attend meetings as a representative of the
nursing department and report the results to the education team and the CNO.
·
Support and defend the goals of senior management.
·
Support the vision and mission statement of
the nursing department.
· Practice his/her profession according to and
within the confines of the scope of practice as defined by the Syndicate of
Egypt and International Council of Nurses.
·
Provide nurses with expert advice on professional conduct and clinical practice.
· Ensure regular evaluations and feedback surveys of the nurses' satisfaction and Seeks opportunities to increase the nursing satisfaction.
Teamwork:
·
Holds regular status meetings with the
education team.
·
Identifies improvement opportunities and makes constructive suggestions for
change.
·
Awareness of each education team member's
contributions.
·
Effectively utilizes each education team
member to his/her fullest potential.
·
Keeps track of lessons learned and shares
those lessons with education team.
·
Mitigates team conflict and communication
problems.
Clinical Governance:
·
Promotion of safe and efficient care.
· Determine the nursing skills and knowledge needed to achieve the desired level of nursing delivery/service.
·
Support the short term and long term
objectives of the nursing department.
· Support all the Patient Care Teams in
provision of safe and effective outcome bases clinical service.
·
Attend Clinical Audit Meetings.
·
Take part in Ethics Committee Meetings.
·
Promote integrated team approach
(collaborative care) in patient care.
· Ensure compliance of the nursing performance
with the recommendations of the ISO and JCI standards and work in the direction
of the reaccreditation.
· Ensure proper implementation of the patient family education program in accordance with the JCI recommendations.
Management Responsibilities:
· Undertake Nursing Office duties in the
absence of Dep CNO
· Management of the education department in
regards to the monthly roster, leaves and scheduling.
· Cooperate with all members of the education
department to ensure effective and comprehensive implementation of the
educational plans.
· Responsible about the implementation of the
continuous education and on-site teaching plans of the nurses in the hospital.
· Ensure sufficient educational supplies and
instructional materials in the department.
· Ensure the recruitment of high caliber
members for the nursing education department (clinical instructors and
educators).
· Support the development of professional
accountability within the team to enable effective clinical governance.
· Assist supervisors by supporting their
efforts in daily clinical rounds.
· Ensuring implementation of hospital policies and
procedures.
· Assist management to realize management
objectives.
·
Undertake clinical interventions in emergency
situations.
· Liaise with support services to co-ordinate
training plans for other health care personnel (HCA & L&D or other
Non-Nursing Personnel).
· Make decisions that directly impact clinical practice in nursing.
Competencies:
Education:
· BSN, MSN, PHD is preferred.
Experience:
· Post graduate: Advanced Nursing Science Diploma
· Experience in project management within education or training environments.
Training:
· Applied pharmacology.
· Certified BLS (Adult and Pediatrics)
· Certified ACLS.
· Knowledge of Trauma Care an advantage.
· Excellent presentation skills.
Communication and Interpersonal skills:
· Have the ability to liaise and communicate effectively with all departments.
· Liaise and coordinate service and plans with CNO on a daily basis.
· Submit monthly report of department activities to line manager.
