Reports To:

The Nursing House Supervisor, OPD Head nurse and Assistant Head Nurse in the absence of Head Nurse.

Accountability:

Accountable to Nursing House Supervisor, OPD Headnurse.

Job summary:

   Personnel who assist in providing basic nursing care, and Ensures that OPD rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for the day, act as a runner/patient transporter to other departments within the hospital, Interact and communicate effectively with all staff, and physicians.

Responsibilities and duties:

     ·        OPD Head Nurse is responsible for assignments of the health Care Assistants in the            OPD.

     ·        Assists with patient admissions:

    ü       Stretcher / bed transfer

ü Removal of clothes

ü Assist with patient gown

ü Weighs patient

     ·       Take and record:

ü Oral Temperature

ü Respirations

ü Radial pulse rate

     ·       Escort patients to clinics, cashier, pharmacy etc.

     ·       Demonstrates knowledge of parameters to report to OPD Head Nurse/ Charge Nurse.

     ·       Cleans equipment.

     ·       Exhibits cultural sensitivity to patients and family.

     ·       Ensures clean, dirty utility and store rooms are tidy.

     ·       Ensures that Consultation rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for the day.

Competencies:

Education:

·         High School Diploma.

·         Basic Nursing Training is preferred.

·         Able to read, write and speak Arabic well.

·         Able to understand and speak Basic English.

Experience:

·         1-2 yrs experience in the hospital is preferred.

Training:

        ·       In house by education department.

    ·  Attend fire fighting and infection control sessions as scheduled by respective department.

Communication skills:

     ·       Ability to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies           and other on the job stresses.

     ·       Good communicator and pleasing disposition.

Competencies:

     1-    Vital Signs.

     2-    High level disinfection.

     3-    Handling In-Patient & outpatient cases.

     4-    Assessment and reassessment.
